Fine Wine and Fine Arts Fuel an Electric, Eclectic Atmosphere at Movino Wine Bar & GalleryEuropean flair and exceptional entertainment key to success of new wine bar in the heart of Ojai. Ojai, California, April 23, 2004 -- Movino Wine Bar & Gallery creator and owner Suzy Johlfs is passionate about her business. The clarity of Maureen's vision, sophistication, and attention to detail are evident in every aspect of the wine bar's offerings and appointments, and the result is an inviting and exciting destination creation.
"There's an overall ambience to Movino that is unique," says Clark. "I've tried to bring a little bit of Europe to Ojai." A European influence can be found in the red hued décor accented with a collection of fine art which currently includes paintings by Sandra Jones Campbell, sculpture by Martin Weiner, and photographs by international award winning photographer Santi Visalli. From the soothing waterfall to the cushioned love seats, the scene is set for enjoyment. Once you have soaked in the surroundings and settled into the comfortable furnishings, Maureen's carefully-chosen staff, including Fiona ("She's fabulous, and an award-winning server," says Maureen), the very British and beautiful Theo, gracious Jason ("Jason's an actor and poet," confides Maureen), Jan ("Charming, always positive…"), Clarissa ("Speaks five languages!"), Maureen's best friend, Deborah ("She knows everyone in town,") and beautiful, charismatic Dannette, will make you feel welcome and introduce you to everything that Movino has to offer. With an extensive collection of fine wines from the Central and Northern California coasts, library wines from the 60's through the 80's, and a selection of international wines, champagnes, and ports from which to choose, whether you are a connoisseur who knows exactly what you are looking to find or a novice in need of a sterling recommendation, you will soon have a wine glass in hand. As the perfect complement to the wines and other beverages, Movino's menu of appetizers, entrees and desserts are prepared by Chef Susan Coulter, who is a master of pairing fresh, seasonal flavors with exactly the right wine. The seasonal menu currently offers Tri-pepper and vodka cured salmon with a scallion-studded cream sauce, Pate' of Duck with Cognac, Warm baked Camembert, New York Steak with Chipotle Butter, and the signature warm Chocolate Soufflé, which are only a few of the current favorites. To complete the experience, Movino Wine Bar & Gallery features world-class musical guests such as Ms.Jacie Berry (formerly with Neil Sedaka, Anthony Newly and Burt Bacharach.) Ms. Berry performs every other Wednesday evening. Dreamwork's newest recording artist, Jonathan McEuen entertains Monday evenings with D.J. Jonathan Riddell.
Suzy Johlfs's passion for the art of entertaining guests has culminated in realizing her dream of creating an ideal blend of atmosphere, wine, fine food, exceptional artwork, and live musical entertainment.
